I am a super busy woman, who is constantly on the go. I call myself the “bag lady” because I tote around multiple bags everywhere! My business/blog binder is always with me, and this is where my thoughts are recorded, my plans are implemented, my posts are created, my inventory is accounted for, my goals are made, and my desires are notated. Absolutely everything that I do begins in this binder, and I’ve already had to tape up the seams up after ONLY 5 months of use!
When I write, I go old school; pen to paper, scribbling as fast as I can before I’m interrupted or lose my train of thought. It works best for me! Once I have everything edited how I see fit, I dig out the laptop and type it up. I prefer to wait until I have several things to type, but it doesn’t always work out that way.
I enjoy having the tunes cranked up while I type, and here lately, hubby man has been jamming out during my typing sessions. Yeah!!! Gorillaz, Insane Clown Posse, Jane’s Addiction, Nine Inch Nails, Korn, and so on… It’s been fantastic!
I always make sure to have my caffeine fix sitting next to me and something to munch on is always a treat, even though that doesn’t happen very often. So there you have it; my writing process.
So, how about you? What is your writing process?
I like to write in the evening when I am less likely to be disturbed (I hate having to constantly pick back up a train of thought). A lot of the time it is as simple as opening up my laptop and starting to write.

Great process! I despise being interrupted when I have that magic flowing through my fingertips! Thank you for sharing!

A good amount of my creative routine sounds along the same lines as you. Rocking out to the similar bands, and caffeine! Lol I love my coffee! Lol but I don’t write out my posts. 🙂

Can’t get those creative juices flowing without the caffeine and tunes! Great hearing from you babe!

I think I’m the exact opposite. I can’t write anything with any background music. I turn off everything and make sure there’s nothing that can derail my train of thought.

That’s an excellent method! Thank you for sharing!

I write when I am not sleeping. I create stories, articles on the computer and hand write poems.

A lot of my ideas come while I’m working, so I write down notes quick on my phone. When I actually am writing a post, I work best with some instrumental or jazz in the background and no distractions. That said, a lot of times I write while sitting in front of the TV, even though I probably shouldn’t! Which is something I should probably work on lol

I write my blog posts and any stories I am writing directly onto my blog site or my writing folder on the computer. Any poetry I write I do in a journal I keep them in. Personally, I have to have quiet. I cannot write if the music or tv are on. I love music when I am cooking, baking or doing housework, but not when writing !!! I have had ADD since childhood and can be distracted very easily !!! I do enjoy having a caffeinated beverage and a snack nearby, chocolate is always a great idea, but not something I allow myself too often !!

I totally understand the distractions-my son is ADHD. It’s difficult to stay engaged while there is stimuli pulling you in various directions. Are you ever worried about losing your unpublished material if something were to happen to your computer?

Yes I do worry about it , so I back up my book on a flash drive and always print out a hard copy every time I work on it ! I know it can happen as I had a computer die and lost a lot of photos !!

Glad to hear it! I’ve lost some great stuff (photos and writings) in the past. I safeguard the best that I can. Hoping to get an external hard drive in the near future.
