Hello World!

scan0469Hi there!  I’m thrilled that you have decided to stop by my blog, From Food Stamps to a Future.  I hope that you enjoy your time here.

So, I suppose that introductions are in order.  My name is Krista, and I am one of the oldest 34 year old women that you will ever run across.  I have lived a lot of different lives, and I have held numerous titles throughout the years.  I am a world traveler, and have had the opportunity to learn a lot of valuable life lessons from others.  I am an old soul, and I don’t believe that I would want it any other way.

I have spent a good share of my short time on this beautiful place we call Earth as a single mother.  So, needless to say, I have experienced more than my share of difficulties and struggles.  Rather than having a pity party, I have chosen to focus on all of the multitudes of blessings that have come into my life over the years.  I know now that all of my experiences in this crazy life have prepared me to help others get through their days, and to know that things do eventually get better.

Thank you for visiting, and I hope that you decide to stay for a while.  Happy Reading!

Purpose of my Blog

I have been entertaining the idea of starting a blog for about 4 years now.  Time has always been an issue, and everyday life has always gotten in my way.  When I created my 5 year plan (explained in more detail on My Creations page) in December of 2012, creating my blog was included in my checklist.  So, what are my reasons for wanting to start a blog?  Well, for the past 11 years I have been compiling a list of ideas/topics that I want to write about.  These are things that I have learned during my travels that I know could benefit others.  By having a blog, I will finally be able to bring my handwritten notes out of hiding and share them with the world.  Others will be able to learn from my life experiences, I will be able to encourage my readers to follow their dreams, because it is NEVER too late to make a fresh start, but most of all I want to inspire those who feel trapped like I have been all of these years.  I will be discussing a wide range of topics which include:

  • Life lessons I have picked up
  • Surviving single parenting
  • How to have and maintain a successful relationship
  • Interesting life hacks that I run across
  • Following your dreams
  • Success tips and tricks
  • A wide range of craft tutorials and DIY’s
  • Managing your super busy life

and SO much more!

These are the main categories that I intend to cover, but I know my mind, and there is no telling what I may decide to post about from day to day.  It will be an adventure to say the least.

I am planning to post new content to my blog on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday each week.  My weekends are spent working on my Etsy creations, as well as posting these new items in my shop.  There may be times when I am unable to post due to my hectic schedule, but this is my goal.  My Tuesday post will be devoted to my “Tell All Tuesday’s” series, which will consist of a single question being directed at my readers.  I want to know all about you, and this is a great way to begin our friendship.  I ask a question, and you put in your two cents.  Wednesday and Friday’s posts will vary by topic depending on what I feel that week.

Tell All Tuesday Series: Product Launching

Q-Have you ever launched a product before?

Brainstorm Session

A-I have created hundreds of products over the years, and have sold more items than I could put a number on, but I’ve always been SO excited to get my finished products into the hands of others, that I have completely skipped the process of “product launching.”  During my research over this past year, I have learned how VITAL it is to properly present a product/service to the community in hopes of achieving the longevity that you desire for the hard work that you have invested.

I have been dabbling with one project in particular, that I KNOW will benefit others, for the past 12 years of my life. I have finally decided to finish her up and place a deadline (launch date) to it. I have a few ideas that I would like to implement during this process, but am open to any and all suggestions that YOU, my loyal community have to offer. What have you or your company done in the past that was beneficial? What do you feel is the best approach to marketing a product launch? I am anxious to hear your suggestions and ideas! I will be sharing more details with you as time progresses.

I can’t wait to roll your thoughts, experiences, and input around in the ole’ noggin!

A Little Motivation for your Day…

For those of you who are unaware, I have been burning the candle at both ends lately. I have finally committed to my book, and will be announcing soon, my anticipated launch date. I will tell you that I have given myself just 6 months to complete it. Every time that I put a specific date on a project, something inevitably gets in my way, and I feel like an utter failure for not getting it done “on time.” But, whether I stick to said date, or whether I’m a few days off, the important thing will be that the 1 single project that has haunted my mind for 12 years, will finally be complete. It’s been a LONG time coming!

So, with that being said, I wanted to do something just a bit different than normal today, and I hope that it inspires you in the ways that it has me. I have decided that I am going to live my life from here on with positivity and purpose, and I am welcoming The Law of Attraction into my day to day. I will Ask, I will Believe, and I WILL Achieve!!! I have always been a realist, but I know that I need to embrace optimism into my life. The vibes that I am tossing out into this vast planet will not disappoint! I WILL be successful in all that I pursue, and I WILL conquer my dreams!  On Christmas Day, I will be hitting my 4 year mark in my ultimate 5 year plan. I have been saying since last year that 2016 is GOING to be my year, and I believe, DOWN TO MY CORE, that I am correct in saying this.  The wheels have been placed into motion, and there is NO going back now! I love each one of you for the contributions that you have made in my life! I am SO blessed to share this life with you!

YouTube has an abundance of inspiring, thought provoking, and emotionally gripping videos available for the taking, and I have decided to share 2 of these videos that spoke to my soul with you today. I hope that you enjoy them as much as I did!

Tell All Tuesday Series: The Ideal Life

Q-How do you envision the Ideal Life?

The Ideal Life

A-Bills paid, pantry stocked with groceries, money in the bank for necessities, a savings account for a rainy day, a separate account for a retirement fund, and knowing that I will never again HAVE to stitch up holes in our clothing. My ideal life will allow me to help and inspire others, while allowing me the opportunity to work from home (my beach front condo) doing all that I’m passionate about.

My desires are modest, and I KNOW that every item above is realistic and obtainable. I WILL have these things, it’s all just a matter of when!

Your turn…How do YOU envision the Ideal Life?

Tell All Tuesday Series: Words of Wisdom

Q-Does your family have a motto?

Back Door

A-Other than the Golden Rule (“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”), we teach and practice how vital it is to have a “back door” in ANY and ALL situations. If you always have an alternate plan in mind, then you’ll be better able to handle any unfavorable situation that may occur. Hope for the best, but ALWAYS plan for the worst; that’s our motto!

How about YOU? Does your family have a motto?

Busy, Busy…

Busy Bee

My lovelies, I do apologize for the crickets on my end. I’ve been burning the candle at both ends for a good month, trying to stay on top of everything, yet falling short each day. I have been working on a post for the last week, and cannot seem to get it done, and it doesn’t appear that I’ll have it finished for tomorrow either…I have an event for work that I have to attend tomorrow night. As soon as I can get it done, I will share it with you all. Just wanted to keep you in the loop, and let you know that each of you are in my thoughts. My email is flooded with some amazing posts; keep up the fantastic work!!! See you again soon….

Tell All Tuesday Series: Videography

Q-What video editing software do you prefer?

A-For years I worked in the Windows Movie Maker platform, but have recently switched over to Filmora.  There are A TON of extra features available that Movie Maker just does not contain.  Some of the features available in this new program are:

  • Video Stabilization
  • Reverse Play
  • Screen Recording
  • Split Screen Videos
  • Green Screen
  • Audio Speed Changer Tool
  • and there are new effects packs available ALL the time

If you can think it up, I’ll bet it supports that feature.  If you’re unhappy with your current software, you should definitely give Filmora a trial run.

So, what video editing software do YOU prefer?

Birthday Party Success!

I just wanted to touch base with each of you, and let you know that my daughter’s birthday party was a complete success!  Everyone had a great time, and my daughter was beside herself with everything; she actually thought she was going to have a “Boring” family party.  HA!  Don’t think so!  The food was great, the scavenger hunt was fun and challenging, and her BIG gift (a new laptop) was completely unexpected.  Am hoping to edit down her video so you can see her expression when she opened up her Popping Card.  I rigged up a greeting card with a party popper…PRICELESS!  Also, baby girl passed her permit test today.  SO proud of her!

Happy Birthday Sis!

On a side note, my sister in law left work yesterday morning and went to the hospital.  She ended up going into surgery this afternoon.  Our prayers were answered, and after an overnight evaluation, she should be released to come home tomorrow.  I cannot wait to see her!

Surprise Surgery

I hope that all is well in your world!  See you again Friday.

Tell All Tuesday Series: Parties

Q-What is the best party you have ever thrown?

Decorating Party

Baby Boy Helping Decorate Sissy’s Room

A-There are several in my case, and I will eventually turn them into “How To” eBooks so that others can enjoy them as well. For my oldest son’s 3rd birthday, I had a (SpongeBob) Bikini Bottom Blast Barbecue. It was my first scavenger hunt style party, and EVERYONE, children and adults alike, had a blast! I organized an elaborate Space theme Adventure Hunt for the children where I worked. There is a “photo” video on my YouTube channel, but the pictures DO NOT do it justice. We had an Alien Autopsy and everything! For my oldest sons 14th Birthday, I had a Black Ops style scavenger hunt. I REALLY wanted to have some of the family burst in dressed in black with guns and scare the crap out of the boys, but I thought some of the parents may not appreciate that. That same year, I organized an Ugly Dress Fashion Show for my daughter. Certain elements veered toward a scavenger hunt style party, but not so much. I even had a Craft Kit so the girls could create their own flavorful Lip Gloss.

So, as we speak, I am celebrating my daughter’s 15th birthday. I got her a really nice “Big” gift, but decided to (yet again) send her on a hunt for it. During her travels she will collect some of her favorite things (Reece’s Peanut Butter Cups, Nail Polish, Starbuck’s Gift Card…) and the grand finale, PRIOR to opening her big gift, she will get a nice loud surprise. I plan to video tape it, and if I get the reaction that I’m hoping for, I’ll be posting it on my channel for you all to enjoy. I have several other parties under my belt, and have a children’s book outline of some terrific parties, but these were my over the top moments that I thought I should highlight.

Now, what is the best party that YOU have ever thrown???

How to Keep your Man at Home in 5 EASY Steps

Millions of relationships suffer and inevitably die from infidelities, but that can ALL be avoided if you take the time to prevent it. Mind you, some people are just promiscuous by nature, and nothing you can ever do will change that, but the majority stay true if their wants, needs, and desires are taken care of. So, let’s discuss the 5 steps we need to take to keep our beloved men happy and at home.

Life Long Romance

Step 1: Couples that Play Together, Stay Together

First and foremost, in order to have and maintain a successful and healthy relationship, you have to be friends first. It is quite possible to be “In Love” with someone, but just not “Like” them! The person that you choose to devote your life to should be categorized as your best friend. Yes, there will be moments where everything they do and say just pisses you off, but in time, you get over it, just as you would with your best “girl” friend. If you don’t thoroughly enjoy spending time with your honey, then perhaps you should re-evaluate your relationship with them. There’s no sense wasting your years on someone you really don’t have a connection with. If you are truly in love with your best friend, then “playing together” is super easy and the best fun you’ll ever have. Playing a video game together, watching a movie, or going to a nice dinner will be some of the best memories that you’ll ever create. It won’t matter what you do, so long as you’re doing it together.

Step 2: The Way to a Man’s Heart is Through His Stomach

Unless you are just a complete walking disaster in the kitchen, this step should be super easy to master. If a man’s basic necessities are tended to, he has some good snacks to munch on, and the occasional goodie, then there is no reason for him to stray. Keep him fat, happy, and spoiled!

Step 3: Make Him a TOP Priority in your Life

As a parent, it is difficult (at times) to ensure that your husband remains a priority in your life. Children require a TON of your time and energy, but you need to make it a point to keep your man at the top of the list. If your husband feels overshadowed by his offspring (or step children in some cases), then his interests may veer off in a devastating direction for the family. Treat him like the King of his castle and he’ll stick around to rule over his empire. Deny him his place in the family, and you’ll find yourself running the show solo. It’s not easy and it’s not fun, let me tell you! If he expresses his love, stop everything that you’re doing and openly receive his affection. Make sure to involve him in daily household tasks. This gives him the impression that he is wanted, needed, and an important part of the circle that you call family. Challenge him (spiritually, mentally, intellectually) and keep him at the top of his game. If you wear the pants ALL the time, he’ll feel like his contributions don’t matter, and he’ll find someone new that will make him feel superior. It all goes back to that basic (caveman) instinct.

Step 4: Schedule Weekly Date Nights

This is NOT optional and cancellation is a NO GO  (unless someone is gushing blood or dying!). If you want to keep that spark fresh, then you have to fuel that flame on a DAILY basis. You should schedule a “Date Night” a minimum of once per week. Go out for dinner, rent a hotel room, go out on the town together. If funds are low, opt for frugal expenditures instead like watching the sun set over the lake, taking a stroll on the beach holding hands, or going on a hike in the mountains. It doesn’t matter what you choose to do, so long as you are putting forth the effort to spend that one on one time together. Not only will you be building a stronger foundation for your relationship, but you’ll be creating phenomenal memories that will last through the ages.

Step 5: Having a Healthy Sex Life is Vital to a Relationship!

Whether you want to admit it or not, everything in life revolves around sex. Why do people want big houses and flashy cars? Sex. Elaborate vacations and expenditure accounts? Sex. Lucrative careers and fancy dinners? Sex. Everything in this world centers around sex. If you have been fortunate enough to find that one special someone in this HUGE world, make sure that you tend to their carnal desires and leave them needing more. Mundane sex will have him running for the hills, so make sure that you keep it fresh and interesting. Plus, you owe it to yourself to keep it entertaining, as it benefits you as well. Experiment, Role Play, Ooze your Sex Appeal! Rid yourself of your insecurities; it only kills the vibe. The sexier you feel about yourself, the more desirable you will be to them. Use what the good Lord gave you and flaunt it! Be his dirty girl!

Well, there you have it. 5 easy steps that you can take to ensure that your man stays loyal until the end. I would love to hear your thoughts on the topic, and am curious if you have any additional suggestions. Can’t wait to hear from you in the comments below…
